The Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation (RWCPAF) and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) are set to unveil their annual art exhibition on March 31 at the CZI Community Space.

Titled "Environments of Emergence: Influences and Inspiration," the exhibition aims to foster an inclusive, vibrant atmosphere that celebrates Bay Area artists' unique talents and life experiences.

The exhibition pieces were selected by RWCPAF's art advisory work group, which comprises six local community members with diverse backgrounds. The 10 featured artists will be welcomed with a celebration and meet-and-greet on March 31, and their work will remain on display through spring 2024.

The community space is located at 801 Jefferson Ave.

A diverse array of 10 artists, including two high school students and a life-partner photography duo, were selected from a community-wide call for San Mateo County-based artists of all ages and abilities. The chosen artists showcase various skills, such as scratch art and contemporary weaving, highlighting art's essential role in enriching our local communities.

Pamela Estes, President of RWCPAF, expressed gratitude for the partnership with CZI.

"Artists are brave people. They share with us a glimpse of their inner selves when they share their art, which is highly personal to them," she said. Art is a powerful tool to bring people together, and in coming together, we can learn from different perspectives. We really appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to celebrate these local artists and give them a platform to exhibit their work for the community to see."

Andrea Jones, Director of Bay Area Giving at CZI, shared her enthusiasm about the collaboration.

"We're thrilled to welcome 10 amazing new artists to CZI's Community Space and to continue supporting the Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation in this fantastic, community-rooted program," Jones said. "The Community Space supports a diverse, inclusive, and vibrant community, and programs like RWCPAF's annual art exhibition help bring us together to showcase the beauty and talent in San Mateo County. We look forward to continuing this partnership."

The CZI Community Space, launched in January 2020, offers free meeting and event space to local organizations serving San Mateo County. CZI-funded grantee partners, including RWCPAF, Thrive Alliance, and Redwood City Together, lead the development and management of event programming at the Community Space, aiming to support local arts and culture, build community, and foster non-profit leadership.

The exhibition features artists Olivia Ramos (AKA Sangronx), Shari Bryant, Lauren Yurkovich, Jiyul Park, Eva Arteaga, Deborah Shea, Chris Rasmussen, Belinda Chlouber, Ellen Konar and Steve Goldband, and Adriene Busch. Their art encompasses a wide range of styles and inspirations, from cultural influences to personal stories and the beauty of the natural world.
