A 51-year-old man has been charged with multiple counts of felony firearm offenses, according to court records.
Redwood City police officers arrested Jean Khabbaz on Wednesday, Sept. 29 around 5:30 p.m. after law enforcement officials were alerted by a witness to a report of a “hand to hand” narcotics transaction between two males with a third man holding a handgun, police said. Officers said they stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Chestnut Street and Marshall Street and detained the driver. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded, unregistered, semi-automatic 9mm pistol concealed in a backpack on the front passenger floorboard, according to police.
Khabbaz was charged with six counts of felony firearm offenses and booked into the San Mateo County Jail for possession of a firearm and for carrying a concealed and loaded weapon in public, according to court records. A preliminary hearing will be held on Friday, October 8.
