The Redwood City Police Department reported that it issued 100 citations to local drivers during a pedestrian safety operation that was conducted on Sept. 11, 2023

The operation occurred between El Camino Real and Finger Avenue in Redwood City, along with El Camino Real and Millbrae Avenue in Millbrae, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Among the many violations incurred by drivers during that day, some traffic stops included using a cell phone while operating a vehicle, driving without a license, and failing to yield to pedestrians at a crosswalk, according to the police department.

“Safety is a shared responsibility, with drivers holding the greatest responsibility to keep other road users safe,” said Chief Kristina Bell, Redwood City Police Department. “We hope this operation serves as a reminder to everyone to practice due care and to look out for one another.”

Funding for the police program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
