The North Fair Oaks Festival, a free event that aims to connect the community and support the growth of local businesses and community organizations, is coming to Redwood City this August.

The annual San Mateo County Sheriff's North Fair Oaks Community Festival will be held on Sunday, Aug. 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 2500 Middlefield Rd.

The festival is an opportunity for community members to come together and become familiar with their neighbors, local law enforcement, fire department, county officials, and local nonprofit organizations, according to a Sheriff's department press release. The event will offer a wide range of community information booths providing valuable material, as well as food and entertainment.  Along with a fun-filled community celebration, the North Fair Oaks Community Festival will also highlight the Community Impact Scholarship Program.

In 2016, Casa Circulo Cultural, a local nonprofit in North Fair Oaks, partnered with the San Mateo County Sheriff's office to transition the former "Queen of the Festival Scholarship" to the Community Impact Scholarship Program. The Community Impact Scholarship Program aims to inspire and encourage high school students who wish to continue and complete their higher education while promoting community service with high-impact programs in our communities, according to the press release. The San Mateo County Sheriff's office has awarded over $25,000 in scholarships to students in the community. This year, the office will grant 10 scholarships to college-bound students in North Fair Oaks.
