Josephine Tranchina, a loving Mother, Wife, Sister, Daughter, Nonna and Friend, a long time resident of Redwood City, California of 54 years, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday 13th August 2022 at the age of 74.

Josephine is survived by her husband, Joseph Tranchina; her children, Rosie Tranchina-Percey and Stephanie Urmeneta; her sister, Nunziella Musso; her grandchildren , Barnaby Percey, Candice Percey, Sebastian Urmeneta, Gabriel Urmeneta and Christian Urmeneta; her son in law’s, Matthew Percey and Michael Urmeneta.

Josephine was born in Ustica, Sicily on September 3, 1947 to Salvatore Lo Schiavo and Rosa Lo Schiavo (Giannettino). Josephine wore many different hats throughout her career which included: Elementary School teacher, Food Service Manager for Mills High School,  Day Care Provider for countless children over the course of two decades, Owner/Partner of A Taste of Italy and Companion to long time friend Victoria Kemerer. Most importantly, she re-met the Love of her life Joseph Tranchina in the summer of 1967, which inevitably would change the course of her life forever.

In April of 1968, she married the Love of her life, Joseph Tranchina, a US Veteran and Aircraft Technician and were fortunate enough to experience True Love for 54 years. On February 26, 1969 and October 9, 1975 respectively, Josephine and Joe welcomed into the world their two daughters who were the epicentre and the most important part of their lives. When her Grandchildren arrived, there was most definitely rivalry for the number one spot and an obvious shift in her life’s priorities.

Josephine was a devoted Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Nonna and friend who reverently believed all living souls were good. During her spare time, she was an avid reader, was President of the Sons of Sicily, was part of the St. Pius Choir, was an exquisite cook, was deeply rooted in her Spirituality, loved to sew and create beautiful items for the home, loved travelling to experience far away cultures, and was crazy about clothing, shoes and handbags. Her daughters will be set-up for life with their mother’s collection. As a Virgo, her wardrobe was more orderly than a high end retail shop with impeccable taste. Our mom, was a spiritual being who exuded the brightest light and everyone was drawn to her like bees to honey. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all that were touched by this Beautiful Angel. Mom, we were privileged to have had you as our mother.
We Love you.

A Rosary Service is scheduled at Crippen and Flynn, 400 Woodside Road, Redwood City on Thursday 25th August 2022 from 5pm-6pm and the funeral service will take place on Friday 26th August at The Italian Cemetery, 540 F Street, Colma in the main chapel for 10:30am arrival and 11am service.

Pastor Tonia Roberts, close relative and treasured friend has kindly offered to lead our services.
