The Redwood City Elks Lodge #1991 announced that it will assemble and pack care packages to support the troops and at-risk veterans on Oct. 21, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Lodge will fill the care packages with various essential items, including socks, canned goods, non-perishable snacks, toiletries, literature and personal notes of appreciation.
Each of the curated items will be packed into both care boxes and bags, with the packets being sent overseas to deployed soldiers, while the bags will be distributed to local veteran organizations in time for Veterans Day.
The organizations partnering with the Redwood City Elks Lodge for this endeavor include the Bay District Elk Lodges, Blue Star Moms, Operation Care & Comfort, Veterans of Foreign Wars and more.
The upcoming initiative is open to community volunteers and will include a fundraiser luncheon.
