Avery Luke

Avery Luke is a reporter at the Redwood City Pulse. She is a Los Altos native experienced in covering Bay Area housing and homelessness, education, mental health and more.

Prior to joining the Pulse, Avery worked as a reporter at KPFA Radio in Berkeley, the nation's first noncommercial community radio station. There, she sourced, wrote, produced and voiced stories of Bay Area interest to air on the evening news. Last year, Avery closely followed the 10-week Kaiser mental healthcare workers' strike and assisted with KPFA's live midterm election coverage.

Avery is also a newscast writer at KTVU FOX 2 and holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from DePaul University in Chicago. When she's not reporting, Avery enjoys seeing local live music and hiking in the Midpeninsula hills. She is eager to provide the Redwood City community with trustworthy and meaningful news.

PG&E crews are continuing to assess the damage. According to the outage map, power is off for thousands of Redwood City residents in Centennial, Farm Hill, Woodside Plaza, Emerald Hills and Palm Park. For most areas, restoration time is still to be announced.
