The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday that it had arrested a 54-year-old Redwood City man, charging him with a string of burglaries in Redwood City, San Carlos and San Mateo.

Investigators say they first learned of burglaries in San Carlos in December 2023. The thief would enter lobbies or mail rooms of apartment complexes and steal packages and other items.

Over the course of the investigation, detectives learned of similar crimes in San Mateo and Redwood City, according to a release. Detectives worked in conjunction with police in San Mateo and Redwood City and identified Robert J. Larocco as a suspect. He was arrested on March 14 and booked into county jail on multiple charges of burglary.

Investigators recovered several stolen items and believe there may be additional victims, according to a release from the Sheriff’s Office.
