Redwood City appointed Maggie Cornejo, Kimberly Koch and Dylan Finch to the planning commission during a June 10 city council meeting. Cornejo and Koch will both serve full terms that expire in 2028, and Finch will serve a partial term ending in 2026.
“I am honored to have been appointed to serve on the Redwood City Planning Commission,” Cornejo said in a press release. “As a native of Redwood City, I will focus my time and energy on ensuring that we continue moving our city forward in a manner that balances quality of life with our future direction.”
Cornejo is a native of North Fair Oaks who now lives in Redwood City. She ran for the District 4 seat on the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors in March. She previously worked as a legislative aide in the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and holds a bachelor of arts in political science from San Jose State University.
Finch is currently co-chair of the Downtown Neighborhood Association and a SamTrans Citizens Advisory Committee member. In his application, Finch said he planned to advocate for pedestrian accessibility and represent transit riders and young renters like himself.
“We must work to address the housing affordability crisis to make sure that people, especially those who work here, can afford to live here,” Finch wrote in his application. “We must also build housing of all types and at all income levels to satisfy state law and our housing element.”
Koch is currently on the commission, having served since early 2023, and was appointed to a full term.
“In my brief tenure, we have approved dozens of projects, both commercial and private, and given feedback to staff on low-income projects in an effort to keep pace with our housing element goals,” Koch said in her application. “I am proud to be a representative of, and in a very small way, participate in planning a safe, equitable, and sustainable city in which our future generations can thrive.”
The new members will be sworn in during a June 24 city council meeting, and their terms officially begin July 16.

Not noted in the article was that Kim Koch and Dylan Finch are also co-chairs of the Downtown Neighborhood Association. We need more well-distributed representation across all of Redwood City.
