A Hayward man suspected of kicking and beating a victim at a Redwood City restaurant last year was arrested this week, police said.
Three suspects allegedly assaulted the victim shortly after 6 p.m. on Aug. 24 as he lay on the ground at La Cueva Del Peludo, 1714 El Camino Real, authorities said.
Surveillance video showed it was “a very one-sided fight” and the suspect who was the primary aggressor allegedly attacked the victim with unknown weapons and kicked him in the head as he lay on the ground, police said.
The victim, who didn’t know the attackers, received medical treatment for his injuries, police said.
Detectives had only the video and a license plate number for leads, but a monthslong investigation led them to identify a 25-year-old as a suspect in the attack.
A warrant was obtained for his arrest and he was taken into custody while he was leaving his home in Hayward about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.
The man was booked into the San Mateo County Main Jail on suspicion of battery with serious bodily injury and assault with a deadly weapon
Anyone with information about the case is encouraged to contact the Redwood City Police Department’s non-emergency number at (650)780-7100.
