The Redwood City Police Department responded to a call reporting an unconscious and unresponsive individual at 11 p.m. on March 1. Officers located a 44-year-old male on the 600 block of Fox Court East in Redwood City and despite lifesaving efforts by officers and paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no ongoing threat to the public, said the Redwood City Police Department in a press release.

A Redwood City resident told the Pulse they spotted crime scene investigators and multiple police officers on the scene until about 3 a.m. On the morning of March 2, the resident saw a forensics van pass through the neighborhood. They said police have roped off the yard in the area where the body was found and have set up a canopy onsite.

“Due to the subject’s age and the uncertainty surrounding the cause of death, investigators are collaborating with the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause,” writes the press release.

The police department is asking anyone with information related to the case to call its non-emergency number at 650-780-7100.
