State Sen. Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park) is pressing for quick approval of SB 254, a bill he said could save Californians billions on electricity and speed up clean energy projects.
At a press conference in Redwood City, Becker said the measure would move some costs off ratepayers’ bills, add oversight to utility spending, and fast-track affordable, reliable energy.
Backers, from environmental groups to industry leaders, said SB 254 would hold utilities accountable, push clean power online faster, and bring relief to customers facing some of the highest electricity rates in the country. The bill has cleared the Senate and is now before the Assembly.
