Peninsula history: On Oct. 18, 1957, two teens stumble across Wyatt Earp’s stolen tombstone on a rural road in San Mateo County
On Oct.18, 1957, two Peninsula teens out on an evening joyride in San Mateo County crashed straight into a piece of Wild West history. Their car, they told police, struck something as they were driving along Crystal Springs Road. When they climbed out to inspect the damage, they discovered a massive granite slab engraved with the name Wyatt Earp.
Portola Valley school board member resigns
Portola Valley School District Trustee Amod Setlur announced on Oct. 17 that he will be resigning from the board on Nov. 13 after three years of service. The school board has launched the appointment process to find a successful applicant who will be seated in mid-November and will serve the remaining 13 months of Setlur’s term.
Second ‘No Kings Day’ draws thousands to Peninsula rallies
