The Ravens girls volleyball team brought home the bacon Tuesday night, claiming the Nor Cal championship against No. 2 Lincoln-SF.

Sequoia High School (25-15) maintained its No. 1 seed in the CIF Northern California Division III regional volleyball playoffs, winning on its home court in a 25-20, 18-25, 23-25, 25-20, 15-9 victory.

“I think we just work really, really hard, and most games we expect a dogfight,” Sequoia senior libero Joslin Fiel said, according to The Daily Journal. “We don’t expect it to ever be handed to us. We just fight, and if five sets is what we go to, it’s what we go to, and we’re prepared to fight.”

The Nor Cal title marks a first for Sequoia High School, as no team in the school’s history has ever played in a Nor Cal final. The championship trophy awarded to the Ravens girls volleyball team is also the first the Ravens have won this season.

The team won five sets three times in the tournament, rebounding after a couple of losses. Tuesday’s win culminated with sophomore outside hitter Kiera Winters’ rocket from the left side.

Lincoln (36-9) had won four sets over No. 11 Foothill-Palo Cedro in the semifinals, and previously beat No. 7 Riordan-SF in the quarterfinals. The Lady Mustangs doubled down in Game 2, with 19 team kills, mostly by outside hitter Katherine Chan.

The next match will be Saturday, Nov. 22, at 1:30 p.m. against the San Diego school Academy of Our Lady of Peace at Santiago Canyon College in Orange County. This will be the first play-off match for the Ravens in their run for the 2025 CIF State Girls Volleyball Championships Division III title.
