Incumbent San Mateo County Supervisor Ray Mueller seems poised to handily win reelection to his seat representing much of the southern part of the county and the Coastside, according to results released after polls closed on Tuesday.

Mueller leads with 85% of the vote compared to Coastside advocate and former Half Moon Bay mayor Joaquín Jimenez, who has 15% of the ballots counted on election night.

“I’m blown away by the margin,” Mueller said. “I’m just so honored to have the opportunity to get to keep working with my neighbors to help people in our county.”

“Congratulations to Supervisor Ray Mueller for winning the election and running a good campaign,” Jimenez told this news organization. “Going into this election, I knew it was gonna be an uphill battle, but this is democracy, and I am a big supporter of it.”

As of shortly after midnight on Wednesday, 80,325 ballots — 18% of the county’s 447,306 registered voters — had been counted on election night, June 2, which include all in-person votes and vote-by-mail ballots received by the Friday before election night.

Mueller is set to serve a second term without a general election since only two candidates ran for the seat.

Mueller, an attorney who was first elected to the board’s District 3 seat in 2022, previously served a decade on the Menlo Park City Council, said his first term focused on public safety. Jimenez, a longtime Coastside community advocate and former Half Moon Bay council member, said he ran to improve support and economic opportunity for farmworkers, in addition to wanting to work on housing and environmental issues.

District 3 encompasses Atherton, Menlo Park, Portola Valley, Woodside, San Carlos, and parts of Belmont, in addition to much of the Coastside, including Pacifica, Half Moon Bay and unincorporated communities.

Election day results only include mailed ballots received before May 29 and in-person votes. Tallys from mailed ballots received after Friday won’t be available until sometime before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the county elections office.

In the 2022 primary election, 174,122 people voted.

  1. Mr. Mueller continues to ask electeds for endorsement to the District Attorney office arguing that Steve Wagstaffe is retiring.

Mr.Mueller ( whom Congressman Khanna has publicly endorsed in San Mateo County Supervisors race and next the District Attorney’s race) has filed no less than $7,000 in late campaign donation disclosures from donors openly affiliated with the Bohannan companies (relevant filings attached, please note several of the donors are Bohannan by birth but have different married names).

Late FPPC April and May 2026 campaign finance disclosures show Mueller’s largest donor group was $7,000 in donations tied directly to members and affiliates of the Bohannon and Bohannon-related entities:
    • Madeline (Bohannon) Johnson — Lincoln — $1,000
    • Abby (Bohannon) Dunckel — San Francisco — $1,000
    • Ryan Bohannon — San Jose — $1,000
    • Shan Bohannon — Newark — $1,000
    • Mary Bohannon — Woodside — $1,000
    • Diane Sheardown (Bohannon Development Co.) — San Carlos — $1,000
    • Christine Bohannon — San Francisco — $1,000

An additional $3,000 in campaign donations was previously received:
    • David Bohannon — Menlo Park— $1,000.00 (02/17/2021)
    • David Bohannon — Menlo Park— $1,000.00 (12/13/2021)
    • Lisa Bohannon — Menlo Park—$1,000.00 (04/03/2022)
