The first baby born in Redwood City in 2026 arrived just minutes into the new year.

Baby Iyla Marie Andrews was born at 12:29 a.m. Jan. 1 at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City, weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 20 inches, hospital officials said.
Her parents, Marlowe Hatchett and Isaiah Andrews of San Jose, praised the hospital’s labor and delivery team and said they are doing well.
“Iyla has rosy cheeks, big brown eyes and a head full of hair,” Hatchett said. “It was an indescribable feeling when she was born. We felt such immediate love and excitement for what’s to come on the journey of parenthood. It’s all we could ever wish for.”

Congratulations to Mom and Dad!
Yay! A fellow Capricorn, who will be a determined and independent individual making their way through life. My Mom said by the time I was turning two, l would tell her “No Mommy, l do it myself!”
(I was born Dec. 29th)… But don’t get a combo Christmas-Birthday Present. It’s no fun if the other siblings have unique birthdays, but yours gets lumped in with the Christmas-New Years holiday!
