A 49-year-old woman was arrested after investigators said she pointed a knife at her teen son’s neck and threatened him during an argument on Thursday, according to the Redwood City Police Department.
The incident, which occurred around 2:39 p.m. on Jan. 17, led officers to the 1400 block of Gordon Street.
When they arrived, officers led the 13-year-old who had called them to safety. They then turned their attention to the teen’s mom, the police department said in a news release.
Attempts to communicate with the woman at her residence initially were met with resistance. The department’s Crisis Negotiations Unit was called in to address the situation, but the woman refused to cooperate, police said.
Around 4:45 p.m., officers entered the home and arrested the woman without any further incident. She was booked into the San Mateo County Jail and faces charges of felony assault with a deadly weapon and felony child endangerment.
The teen was placed in the care of adult relatives.
