Good morning Redwood City!
Crime stories abound
The alleged Half Moon Bay mass shooter pleaded not guilty yesterday at his arraignment. He is charged with seven counts of murder and one count of attempted murder in the death of seven farmworkers in two shootings on Monday, Jan. 23.
In another case, a man says his desire to engage in cannibalism drove him to kill retired Atherton town arborist Kathy Hughes Anderson. I'm not sure that's a defense, and San Mateo County Defense Stephen Wagstaffe agrees. The case returns to court on Feb. 21.
Don't forget to catch up on Doug's "panty burglar" case, in which a man who had lived in Daly City and Redwood City for a while stole 90 pairs of women's panties from clotheslines in San Francisco and then murdered a woman.
If you're in the mood for something a little more upbeat, read Dan's "Summer of Love" blog post, where Dan talks about how he had a brush with legendary Beatle George Harrison at Golden Gate Park in 1967. Harrison would later say that his experience on Hippie Hill changed the direction of his life, and he became a much more spiritual person, seeking out Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
More news to come!
