The American Legion Post 105 Redwood City is inviting the public this November to attend a Veterans Day ceremony at Courthouse Square.
The event will take place on Friday, Nov. 11, on Veterans Day. The program will begin at 11 a.m. with donuts and coffee available for guests beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Newark Wind Symphony will perform live throughout the event, and a car show will be on display along Broadway Street, nestled between Hamilton and Middlefield streets.
A moment of silence will be held at 11:11 a.m. to pay tribute to Armistice Day. Armistice Day marks the point in time when fighting ceased for World War I on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour.
Throughout the ceremony, veterans from all branches of the military will be recognized, including members of the Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard and Air Force.
Special guests will include:
- California Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Kevin Mullin
- District 4 County Supervisor Warren Slocum
- Redwood City Mayor Giselle Hale
- Vice Mayor Diana Reddy
- City council member Alicia Aguirre
The American Legion Post 105 Redwood City will also provide information to assist local veterans.
