Unemployment in the greater Bay Area was the lowest last month in San Mateo County, according to the California Employment Development Department, which publishes the data.
San Mateo County's unemployment dropped to a low of 1.9%, compared with the statewide rate of 3.7%. The rates are at or below pre-pandemic rates, according to departmental data.
The rate in Santa Clara and San Francisco counties was 2.1%, compared with 2.2% in Marin County. San Joaquin County had the highest rate in September at 4.9%, the data show.
Statewide, unemployment is down significantly from 4.1% in August and 6.4% in September 2021.
