Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center has been named one of the best hospitals in the United States for providing top-quality maternity care.
The medical center is among the 259 hospitals on the Leapfrog Group and Money magazine’s list of the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care. Kaiser Permanente is one of 28 hospitals in California that made the list.
The Leapfrog Group partnered with Money to analyze maternity care data submitted to the 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Survey, which was completed by over 2,200 hospitals in 2022. To be included in the list, eligible hospitals had to carry an A or B letter grade on the spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment. In addition, they were required to meet seven criteria specific to providing maternity care.
The hospital was named among the best in the country for meeting rigorous standards for maternity care, including low C-section rates, elective early deliveries and for following important protocols to safely protect new moms and their babies, according to a news release. Last year, nearly 44,000 babies were delivered at Kaiser Permanente Northern California hospitals.
“This honor recognizes our excellent maternity care,” said Sheila Gilson, Senior Vice President and Area Manager at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City. “We’ve also been honored by Newsweek Magazine which reinforces that we’re providing safe for new moms to deliver their babies.”
Kaiser Permanente Redwood City has also been recognized as one of Newsweek magazine’s Best Maternity Hospitals for 2022 and was named to the California 2022 Maternity Care Honor Roll.
