Redwood City has officially opened the nomination period for the upcoming City Council elections. Voters in City Council Districts 1, 3, 4, and 7 can elect their representatives during the Nov. 5 election.
The nomination period began on Monday and will continue until Friday, Aug. 9. During this time, potential candidates can obtain and submit their nomination paperwork through the City Clerk’s office.
If an eligible incumbent fails to file their nomination paperwork by 5:00 p.m. on August 9, the filing period for that district will be extended by five calendar days, ending on August 14. This extension will be available to any qualified individuals except the incumbent.
Not sure how to find your district? Use the city’s interactive map to find it.
To participate in the nomination process, candidates must meet specific qualifications. They must have been residents and electors of the district they wish to represent for at least 30 days immediately preceding the nomination appointment or final filing day. Interested individuals can schedule an appointment with the City Clerk to receive their nomination paperwork by contacting CLERK2@redwoodcity.org or calling (650) 780-7220.
