Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center announced Charles K. Lim, MD, as its new physician in chief on Aug. 8.

Lim joined Kaiser Permanente in 2002 and has since served as chief of orthopedics. He also led the planning and implementation of healthcare technology as the physician leader for IT. In his new role, Lim will oversee the physicians and clinical care operations that serve patients at the Redwood City Medical Center and San Mateo Medical offices.
“I look forward to continuing our focus on providing high-quality, safe, and equitable care to our patients, members, and the communities we serve,” Lim said in a news release.
Born in Myanmar and raised in Boston, Lim graduated from Harvard College with the highest honors in biochemistry and molecular biology. He earned his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Lim succeeds Grace Firtch, M.D., a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist who is transitioning to a leadership role at Kaiser Northern California.
