Redwood City police are investigating a double shooting that took place near the Veterans Memorial Senior Center on Thursday night.

Emergency dispatchers received reports from multiple callers at approximately 10:11 p.m. about shots being fired in the area of the center, located at 1455 Madison Ave. The San Mateo County Gang Task Force and the San Mateo Police Department assisted Redwood City police and responded to the incident as it was happening, the department said in a statement on Friday.

Officers found two men with gunshot wounds, and both were transported to a nearby trauma hospital for treatment. They are expected to survive their injuries.

Investigators are looking into whether a failed narcotics sales transaction was involved. There is no ongoing threat to the public, the department said. Not all of the people involved in the incident have been forthcoming with investigators, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

The Redwood City Police Department is asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Detective Brian Luo at 650-780-7619. Anonymous tips may also be reported to the Tip Line at 650-780-7110 or Bay Area Crime Stoppers at 415-946-8733.
