PG&E is flying helicopters Wednesday just south of the middle of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge to replace equipment on its transmission towers, a PG&E spokesperson said.
The work began at about 11 a.m. and is expected to last through Friday.
Workers will be dangling from the helicopters. PG&E is warning drivers and others that no crisis exists.
