The special election is right around the corner. Measure A is the only item on the ballot. We have two stories about Measure A: one about what it is and one about what happens if it passes.

In essence, Measure A would amend the San Mateo County Charter to allow the Board of Supervisors to remove Sheriff Christina Corpus from office for cause, including misconduct or abuse of power. If voters approve the measure on March 4, the board would have the authority to oust Corpus with a four-fifths vote. If removed, Undersheriff Dan Perea would temporarily assume the role, and the board would have 30 days to appoint a new sheriff or call for a special election to fill the position. Read more here.
