Communities and venues on the Peninsula are marking Pride Month in a variety of ways, with everything from drag queen performances and storytimes, to parades, parties and talks. Here’s a sampling of how the Peninsula is celebrating Pride.
Arts briefs: Joan Baez at Kepler’s, ‘Young Frankenstein’ in Los Altos, Music in the Square kicks off
This week, see legendary singer, poet and activist Joan Baez at Kepler’s Books, catch the musical horror spoof “Young Frankenstein” and kick off summer concert season with Music on the Square. Plus, Feldman’s Books’ 28th anniversary, a free concert with violinist Yoorhi Choi and Bay Choral Guild’s “American Journey.”
Portola Valley music festival highlights hyperlocal lineup
This year PV Palooza, the all-day music festival, is back bigger than ever in Portola Valley on Saturday, June 1. Now in its third year, the event will feature 30 bands playing on four outdoor stages at Portola Valley Town Center.
An artful pairing: Los Altos gallery combines owner’s passion for art and wine
It’s a familiar story in Silicon Valley: after successful careers in high tech, executives who have pursued more creative passions as a second act. For Benny Madsen, it was buying Byington Vineyard and Winery. For his wife Amy, it was opening an art gallery in Los Altos. Madsen Gallery opened in May of 2022 with the aim of showing paintings and sculptures by regional and international artists.
