Marilyn Elaine (Morency) Brunelle-Nay, 78, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023.
Marilyn is now reunited in heaven with her first husband, William Brunelle, who passed away in 2001 after 33 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters Michelle Heuerman and Renee Hubert, her granddaughters Sienna and Sydney Hubert, her sons-in-law Jeff and Brian, and her loving second husband of 18 years, Everett Nay. She was blessed with not just one, but two loving, supportive marriages, born from mutual admiration and nurtured with kindness and respect.
Marilyn was born on March 22, 1945, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was the second of two children of Oscar and Hazel (Whalley Howard) Morency. Marilyn and her surviving sister Jeanine Seguin enjoyed living near the water and attending family gatherings. As a youth, she studied art and the clarinet. At Boston College, where she earned a degree in education, Marilyn was one of the first female members of the marching band. She loved children, and held various positions as a teacher, librarian, and volunteer at the elementary school level. Marilyn enjoyed music, dancing, and artistic hobbies such as drawing, ceramics, and beaded ornaments. Gardening, especially tending to her many rose bushes, brought her additional joy. One of her greatest pleasures was travel, exploring places all over the world, first with Bill and then with Everett, while holding a special place in her heart for the art and food of Italy.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and “Memere.” She had a kind and loving heart, and a wonderful listening ear for family and friends. She doted on her family and was happiest when she was traveling or with “her girls.”
Rest in peace, Marilyn. You will forever be loved and missed.
