"The affected water pipe has been fixed at Taft, said Jorge Quintana, district spokesman. "The water break only affected a section of the campus and now the water pipes are fully functional across the whole campus."

~~~ Original Story~~~
A water main pipe that broke over the weekend at Taft Community School left students and staff on Monday morning without working bathrooms and running water, according to school officials.
In an email sent on Sunday night, the principal informed the staff and parents about the water line break and encouraged them to have students bring refillable water bottles, so that staff could refill them with the water bottles provided. Porta-potties and portable water stations were also brought to campus, according to district spokesman Jorge Quintana.
A contractor is at the school assessing the situation and working to get the water back up and running, Quintana said. The district hopes to have it resolved by the end of the day, he added.
Students and teachers on Monday were being asked to use porta-potties, as only one bathroom in the school was functioning. Students were also provided with drinking water in the classrooms, said Quintana.
The water main pipe broke on Sunday, and school officials became aware of the break after a neighbor notified them, said Quintana. Water was then shut down, he said. It's unclear what caused the water main break, said Quintana.
About 400 students and roughly 60 staff members, including teachers and support staff were affected by Sunday's water main break, Quintana said.
A teacher, who asked to remain anonymous, reported that they arrived at school Monday to find that only one bathroom was functioning, for students, staff and teachers. The teacher said porta-potties didn’t arrive until 9 a.m.
Teachers and parents were notified about the water break before arriving at school.
This story has been updated to show the district's comments.
An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated how teachers and staff were notified. District officials notified teachers and staff by email on Sunday. To request a correction, contact editor@rwcpulse.com.
