The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning along the San Francisco Bay effective until 2 p.m. Saturday due to a combination of king tides and storm surge.

According to the NWS, up to 2.5 feet of flooding above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. The NWS said to expect flooding in lots, parks and on roads. Road closures are also possible.

The king tides mark some of the highest tides of the year and are caused by a stronger-than-usual gravitational pull on the Earth. Extremely low tides are also forecast for this evening.

At the Palo Alto Baylands, an estimated high tide of 9.55 feet is expected around 11:25 a.m. Saturday, with the lowest tide slated for -1.14 feet around 7:45 p.m., according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website

An interactive NOAA map is also available to search which properties could be impacted by 2.5 feet of inundation.

Additionally, a coastal flood advisory has been issued for the Pacific Coast, effective until 2 p.m. Sunday.
