Good morning, Redwood City!
“Unprepared”
If you felt caught off-guard by last week’s storms, you’re not alone. Residents and city officials, alike, reported feeling unprepared for the deluge—and resulting flooding, outages, evacuations—that rang in 2023 with a bang.
The mobile home park tenants, in particular, described severe water damage and insufficient outreach and support from the city. City officials claimed they did everything they could, but residents said it wasn’t enough.
So what happened, exactly? How will the city bolster its efforts for future emergencies? More on that here.
More housing
The site of the former Alta-Wood Animal Hospital on Woodside Road is slated for more housing—eight residential units, to be precise. On Monday the city council approved a final map for the development project, which will turn the one-story animal hospital into eight, 3-story, 3-bedroom “townhome style condos.”
That’s all for now. Enjoy this dry day!
