Inspired by the real life of Marguerite de la Rocque, writer Allegra Goodman’s new novel “Isola” tells the story of the 16th-century orphaned French noblewoman, who is on a journey to Quebec when her greedy guardian discovers her love affair with a servant and maroons her on a small island, where she’s forced to fight for survival.
Goodman, who is also the author of other books including 2023’s “Sam,” celebrates the release of “Isola” with an appearance at Books Inc. Palo Alto.
