Redwood City’s annual Día de los Muertos celebration will return to Courthouse Square on Sunday, Nov. 8, with a theme inspired by the traditions and Indigenous heritage of Tlaxcala, Mexico.

Casa Círculo Cultural and the San Mateo County History Museum are organizing the event in collaboration with the Redwood City Parks & Arts Foundation. The celebration will take place on Broadway between Hamilton Street and Middlefield Road.

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is traditionally observed Nov. 1 and 2 to remember loved ones who have died. Families create ofrendas or altars, with photographs, marigolds, candles and favorite foods of those being remembered.
