Caltrans continues work on Highway 84, damaged by a landslide in March 2023, throughout rainy weather and is still tentatively scheduled to fully reopen between March 2024 and May 2024, depending on the weather and material delays, according the transit agency’s latest update on Feb. 9.
The repair of the slope and construction of permanent structures has been in the works for almost a year and a one-way traffic control was opened on July 27, 2023.
Currently, the Caltrans crew is working on permanent repairs to the lower slope, maintaining one-way traffic control, adding erosion control measures to mitigate future rain, tie-back tensioning and removing wailer forms.
