A new art installation now on view at Redwood City’s Art Kiosk pays tribute to historical and cultural figures who broke barriers and inspired future generations.
Our Prism of Dreams by Bay Area artist Caleb Dowdell features five tall, five-sided plexiglass sculptures painted with translucent portraits of changemakers, including Harriet Tubman, José Hernández, Mary Jackson, and others.
The interactive installation explores themes of visibility, representation, and legacy. As viewers move around the semi-transparent structures, the images shift, reflecting the evolving impact of dreamers across time. Dowdell is painting the sculptures live throughout the six-week exhibition, treating the project as an open artist residency and inviting the public to witness the work in progress.
The installation is located at the Art Kiosk at 2208 Broadway St., in front of Courthouse Square, and will remain on display through June 29, 2025. The exhibit is part of a public art initiative supported by the Redwood City Improvement Association in partnership with Fung Collaboratives.
