Monday marks the last day for hobbyists and crafters to shop at JOANN Fabrics and Crafts in Redwood City, as the store prepares to close for good.
JOANN Fabrics and Crafts, the 80-year-old craft store chain, is closing its Redwood City location on Monday, April 28 at 8 p.m.
The Ohio-based retailer, known for its sewing supplies and home decor, has operated at the Peninsula Boardwalk shopping center for at least a decade. Its 16,000-square-foot store is the third-largest space in the center. The location appears to have been listed for lease on the Crosspoint Realty Services website, which manages the center. Rental pricing is not publicly disclosed.
JOANN’s has filed for bankruptcy twice within the past year. In February, the company was sold to the GA Group, a Los Angeles-based retail liquidation firm. GA Group plans to close 255 of JOANN’s approximately 800 stores nationwide by Wednesday. A total of 112 stores, including one in San Mateo, are closing on Monday.
The closest JOANN location to Redwood City is in Cupertino, although that store is also expected to close. A closure date has not been announced.
The remaining JOANN stores will close sometime in May.
