An early morning SWAT operation in the unincorporated area of Redwood City led to the arrest of a suspect linked to a recent armed robbery, police said in a news release on Thursday.

The incident occurred on the 3700 block of Marlborough Avenue at approximately 6:33 a.m., when officers began advising residents to avoid the area due to police activity.

The suspect, a 36-year-old Milpitas resident, was taken into custody without incident and is facing charges of felony armed robbery and a probation violation.

This arrest follows an investigation by the Redwood City Police Department into an armed robbery that occurred within city limits in the past three weeks.

The Redwood City Police Department conducted the operation with support from the San Mateo Police Department SWAT Team and the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team.
