A 47-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sending threatening text messages to his ex-girlfriend, including a photo of himself holding a gun, Redwood City police said Thursday.

On May 4, detectives started investigating an East Palo Alto resident after he allegedly sent threatening texts to the woman.

He was taken into custody on Wednesday, and authorities with a search warrant allegedly found four handguns — including one featured in the text message — at his home. Ammunition and four pounds of marijuana were also found, according to police.

The man was booked into the San Mateo County main jail on suspicion of felony criminal threats. Bail was set at $50,000, and he is set to appear in San Mateo County Superior Court on Friday afternoon, according to jail records.
