Redwood City police are investigating a homicide after an 18-year-old resident was found fatally shot early Thursday morning.

Around 1:40 a.m. on Feb. 6, officers responded to a report of a person in the middle of the road in the 500 block of Adams Street near Jefferson Avenue, behind the Whole Foods Market, according to Redwood City Police Capt. Ashley Osborne.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a person bleeding from a gunshot wound. Paramedics provided medical aid, but the individual was pronounced dead at the scene, Osborne said.

He added that it remains in the early stages of the investigation and that police are treating the incident as a homicide. Investigators believe this an isolated incident rather than a random act of violence.

Further details were unavailable.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Redwood City Police Department’s non-emergency line at (650) 780-7100.
