A 30-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of critically injuring his brother in a stabbing in Redwood City on Wednesday night and then wounding another family member who tried to intervene, police said.

The man is accused of the attack reported at about 10:30 p.m. at an apartment complex at 950 Main St., where officers arrived to find a man with multiple stab wounds to the torso and a second victim with a laceration to their arm, Redwood City police said.

The suspect was detained at the scene and investigators determined that he had allegedly attacked his brother, and the second victim was injured while trying to intervene, according to police.

The suspect’s brother was taken to a hospital in critical condition, while the second victim was treated for a superficial wound. The suspect was booked into jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

The cause of the attack remains under investigation and anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Redwood City police non-emergency line at (650) 780-7100.
