The U.S. Department of Education announced Thursday, Oct. 17, that more than 60,000 public service workers will be extended about $4.5 billion in student loan relief.
The new student loan relief is part of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, which forgives student loan balances for teachers, nurses, social workers, first responders, service members and other public servants after they make 120 monthly payments.
The Biden administration has approved over $175 billion in student debt relief for more than 4.8 million Americans, the Department of Education said.
