The Sequoia High School Alumni Association has awarded $2,660 to teachers at Sequoia High School through its annual “Cherokee Grants” program and an additional $150 to the cheer team. The program, established in 1987 and named for Cherokee scholar Sequoyah, funds instructional needs and projects not covered by the school’s budget.
This year’s grants supported healthy snacks for students, an ad-free YouTube Premium account for language classes, robotics equipment, sensory aids for study skills, and resources for a co-ed soccer team for newcomer students. The cheer team received funds to assist with its activities.
The Cherokee Grants program has provided thousands of dollars in educational support over the years. Donations can be made by mailing a check to the Sequoia High School Alumni Association or visiting www.sequoiaalumni.org/.
