Redwood City firefighters responded to roughly 150 incident calls – about 2 to 3 times as much as they do on a normal day – during Sunday's storm.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Greg DaCunha, the calls for service in Redwood City and San Carlos included reports of trees down, power and utility lines down, vehicle accidents, and flooding.
DaCunha said reinforcements were unnecessary, though on-duty officers responded to back-to-back calls during the weekend's "atmospheric river," which drenched the area with record-breaking rainfall. He added that because widespread power outages caused significant delays with PG&E, firefighters had to stay near the scene of downed power lines for several hours while waiting for electrical support.
Weather-related calls continued into midday Monday but have since subsided.
DaCunha said he was not aware of any injuries related to storm damage.
