Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Good morning, Redwood City!

After nearly four years, a new bike boulevard is nearing completion on Vera Avenue.

The first of its kind in Redwood City, the one-mile pedestrian- and bike-friendly stretch uses all sorts of signage and physical barriers to slow down and discourage through traffic.

This is just one many new developments, including bike boulevards, bike lanes and pedestrian paths, that the city has proposed as part of its RWC Walk Bike Thrive initiative. Want to give some feedback? Check out this interactive map of potential projects, which is open to public comment until Jan. 31.

Big news for the Redwood City Education Foundation: the Executive Director Jason Galisatus has stepped down after two-and-a-half years.

During his tenure, the RCEF focused on education equity, shifting their funding to Hoover, Garfield, and Taft schools. Pati Ortiz, former head of Redwood City District’s Community Schools and Partnerships Department, will step in temporarily. More on that to come.

Happy Thursday!

Signing off,

Leah
