A Redwood City driving instructor was arrested last week after police alleged he was sending pornographic material to juvenile student drivers, according to a city news release.

The 38-year-old man is the owner and operator of a San Mateo County area driving school and is accused of traveling to meet a minor and providing obscene material to a minor, police said.

According to police, investigators arrested the man by using an undercover female police officer. The man's residence and business were searched and his electronics were seized, police said.

The investigation and arrest came after police received a tip from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) who said they had information about an independent contractor driving instructor who was not affiliated with the agency who had possibly had an illegal interaction with a female minor.

The team of investigators included the Redwood City Police Department's Detective Bureau, DMV, the San Jose Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, and the Hillsborough Police Department Investigations Unit.

Anyone with information about this case or similar activity with this suspect is encouraged to call Detective Sergeant Nick Perna. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous about this investigation or any other Redwood City criminal activity, please call the Tip Line at 650-780-7110.
