Old Woodside Store Day
If you ever wanted to know what life was like in the 1880s, now's your chance. Bring the whole family to the Woodside Store at the corner of Tripp Road and Kings Mountain Road and your kids will get to "use a two-man saw, cleave shingles with a mallet and froe, compete in games and make dolls." The fun starts May 1 at noon.
Stop and smell the roses
The Peninsula Rose Society has brought back its annual rose show, this year called "Roses Old and New." You can still show off your roses even if you're not a member. Just bring them by early before the judging begins. The show starts at 1 p.m. at the Red Morton Community Center.
