The latest defeat against the California United Strikers has not dampened the spirits of Bay Cities Football Club, Redwood City's third division professional soccer team.
The team now has two back-to-back wins after defeating the LA Force 1-0 on Saturday, May, 7.
Their previous win came from their match against Albion San Diego on April 30. The Bay Cities are now ranked third in the Wester Division of the National Independent Soccer League (NISA). If the team can maintain or exceed this rank throughout the rest of the season they will compete in the League playoffs.
The win has the organization celebrating many firsts including their first scored at home game, the team's first NISA win and their first time competing at the US Open Cup at PayPal Park.
“When we started the team, everyone thought we would get crushed by the many talented and experienced teams in the league,” Head Coach and President Anders Perez said. “Time and time again, we have proven them wrong. To be in a position to potentially compete in the playoffs is exhilarating for the organization.”
The Bay Cities are the only professional sports organization based in San Mateo County and Redwood City. The team hopes to offer family-friendly entertainment and help foster a sense of local pride.
