Good morning, Redwood City!
Just compost it
California has a problem with organic waste in landfills, which makes up ONE-FIFTH of the state's methane emissions. The state's solution? SB 1383, a law that went into effect in January and requires that organic waste stops going to landfills and is processed in other ways.
Now, counties and cities across the state will need to have figured out how much organic waste they're generating and where it's going to be processed.
Still have questions about how this will affect you, and what you need to do? You're not alone. Check out this incredibly comprehensive guide, courtesy of Magali Gauthier and our colleagues over at the Palo Alto Weekly.
Canna-business
There seem to be mixed feelings about the arrival of cannabis retail in Redwood City. We've heard from some residents who think it's great—and others who have concerns about the impacts of this new industry on the city. What do you think? We'd love to hear from you.
As always, more to come. Happy Thursday!
Your reporter,
Leah
