With the summer travel season ending soon, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is reminding the community to drive responsibly and to never drive under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs under any circumstance.
The county sheriff’s office recommends that residents in the community should take all necessary precautions to protect themselves and others from driving-related incidents.
Those include wearing a seatbelt and making sure it’s buckled properly, avoiding any potential distractions while driving, following the speed limit, as well as never driving while impaired in any way.
In an effort to keep the community safe, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office says that they will have additional officers on patrol through Sept. 5. The officers will be on the lookout for any drivers that they may suspect of driving while under the influence.
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office also says that they will be holding a DUI checkpoint in the City of Millbrae on Aug. 26, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m.
This additional effort to prevent impaired driving in the community is a part of a nationwide enforcement campaign called “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
