Good morning, Redwood City!
COVID cases
The County has moved to the "low" or "green" COVID-19 community level tier but is reminding residents that this doesn't mean the pandemic is over. The move comes after the County met the CDC recommendations of having fewer than 10 new COVID-19 hospital admissions weekly per 100,000 residents. San Mateo County's most recent rate was 8.7. The County still recommends that you get vaccinated and boosted, get tested if you have symptoms, wear a mask and have your Sunday Fundays outdoors when possible. Our neighbors in Santa Clara County remain in the yellow tier. More info here.
RCSD Measure S
The language on the ballot label on the $298 million bond will stay the same after a resident pointed out that it could mislead voters into thinking the funds could be used to pay for teachers' salaries, which goes counter to California State law. Instead, after conferring with its attorneys, the district said it would update its fliers and newsletters with how the money for its Measure S bond would be used if approved by voters. The district sent a newsletter on Friday about how it plans to use the $298 million. It also included a message about how the money cannot be used. More on this later.
